What Jeff Cushman's Up To

San Jose Office

Cushman has been making big news this month, with the purchase of Massey Knakal and naming of John C. Santora as its new CEO. We checked in with someone who has deep roots at the firm: Silicon Valley's Jeff Cushman (his great-grandfather is one of the two founders), who just got Ellis Partners' big 101 Tech listing. The 961k SF campus along Orchard Parkway in North San Jose has a newly renovated two-story 286k SF office/R&D building on two floors with "big floor plates that's fully vacant and ready to go today," he tells us. The market is so hot right now, and he thinks this is one of the primary locations a lot of the tech groups are landing. He expects tech tenants to be lining up to see it.

Companies with plans to expand big down the road will also find the project appealing. That's because the site is also fully entitled for an additional 665k SF spread across three proposed Class-A office buildings, with prime visibility from Highways 101 and 87. He says a number of large users are circling in the market, and references Service Now's big deal this week. Based on the number of new projects initiated over the last quarter, 2015 should remain hot. Cushman’s listing team also includes Jim McPhee, Michael McMillan and Scott Dever.
