In 2011, Lowe Enterprises plunked down $71M for the Red Lion Hotel at 1415 Fifth Ave. After three years of redesign, the place is now Motif Seattle, which takes the concept of localizing a hotel seriously. According to Motif GM Shannon Sheron, the hotel’s working with local designers “to create distinctive experiences throughout the hotel.” The first such collaboration is with Jonquil & Mr Black’s Jordan Christianson, who created a pattern for the hotel to use in its textiles, letterhead, and more. Shannon tells us that the hotel's also partnering with the Fifth Avenue Theatre and the Seattle Symphony on sponsored events in 2014-15. The property officially opens on June 14.
