Skanska's downtown Seattle 2+U development will include an 85-foot-high open area under the building to create an Urban Village public space.

Skanska plans to build a 500K SF office tower on a lot it recently purchased at the corner of 108th Avenue NE and NE Eighth Street in downtown Bellevue. The project will include ground-level retail space.

“The Bellevue commercial office market is incredibly dynamic with a diverse set of industry leading tenants fueling the Eastside’s growth,” Skanska Executive Vice President Murphy McCullough said in a statement.

The 77K SF lot is near Bellevue’s major employers, including Concur, Expedia, Symetra, Paccar, Salesforce, Amazon and Microsoft. It is Skanska’s sixth development project in the Puget Sound and second in Bellevue since it began development operations in 2011.

Skanska is also building the 684K SF 2+U office tower in downtown Seattle that will be complete in July 2019. The office portion of the project is 85 feet off the ground to create an urban village with public open space and 18K SF of retail and arts and culture space under the building.

Skanska also purchased land in October 2017 for the 2200 Block, a 19K SF parcel that includes three properties on Fourth Avenue in Belltown. A 300-unit multifamily tower is planned for that lot.
