Seattle Addresses Affordable Housing

Seattle
Placeholder

The biggest issue in Seattle currently, and for the next few years, is affordable housing, according to Schwabe Williamson & Wyatt shareholder Keith Dearborn. He says the city is looking at a variety of ways to address this, with solutions from both the public and private sectors coming by 2016 (we’ll keep you posted). Keith adds that Seattle is growing very fast and not keeping up with housing supply. This, of course, causes rents and sales prices to increase. Nothing that you didn’t learn in Economics 101, but the situation in Seattle is becoming extreme. Keith is a fourth-generation Seattle resident, and he wants his children and grandchildren to be able to live here comfortably, as his father, grandfather and great-grandfather did.
