San Francisco Hopes To Lay Out Vision For Future Transit At ‘Connect SF’

San Francisco’s transit authority and planners are kicking off a long-term project called Connect SF to lay out a 50-year vision for the city’s transportation.

By mid-2018, Connect SF hopes to lay out a transportation plan for the San Francisco of the 2060s, reports SocketSite. It would have input from multiple city departments.

Some areas of focus include building and developing the city’s small subway network, further developing muni transit and regional rail, and working with new technologies.

Presentation materials for the project indicate planners want to imagine the future in 50 years if money wasn’t an issue.

The announcement comes after San Francisco was short-listed for, but did not win, a large federal grant to develop new transportation technologies. [SS]
