Hope Remains For Keeping Raiders In Oakland

Raiders fans may still be able to see their beloved team in Oakland after all. A group of investors has proposed to buy the Coliseum, Oracle arena and the land around the sports complex for $167.3M, about $250/SF, which would satisfy bond obligations and prepayment penalties, reports the East Bay Times.

Stadium Real Estate Partners and its master developer, The Integral Group, expressed interest in buying the land and renovating or building a new facility. Renovations would include upgrades and replacements to the troublesome sewer and septic systems.

There is no word on whether this deal would include a place for the Oakland Athletics, who have been considering a waterfront ballpark around Jack London Square.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell remained optimistic earlier this week about keeping the Raiders in Oakland.

This latest news comes on the heels of the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee approving $750M in public funds for a Raiders stadium in Las Vegas. [EBT]
