S.F. Firms Score $6.1B in VC Funding

VC-backed companies in S.F. attracted $6.1B in funding between April and June, more than double that invested in their counterparts in Silicon Valley, according to VC tracker CB Insights. However, there were 205 funding deals in the 25 Valley cities where startups raised money from VCs in the quarter, compared to 165 in S.F. Venture-backed companies in the city accounted for eight of the top 12 in US funding in the quarter: Airbnb, $1.5B; Zenefits and Wish, $500M each; Affirm, $275M; DocuSign, $233M; Denali Therapeutics, $217M; Uber, $200M; and Pinterest, $186M.
