Apple Stepping Into SoMa In First Big S.F. Move

Apple isn't just expanding in Silicon Valley these days. The company could be taking 76k SF at 235 Second St in San Francisco this summer, marking its first significant step into the city.

Apple's move into SoMa, with its startup culture, could signal the company's efforts to put offices where its employees (and potential employees) wish to live, Reuters reports. About 14% of its employees lived in San Francisco in 2013.

As companies compete for tech talent, there is a need to be in the city, which has the amenities workers want as well as easy access to transportation. [Reuters]
