As development surges near the Milpitas BART, SummerHill Housing Group is under contract to scoop up a 9.8-acre piece of land bordered by Great Mall Parkway, Center Pointe Drive and Montague Expressway. The company is looking to develop a three-building multifamily mixed-use project featuring 720 units and 36k SF of retail, reports the Silicon Valley Business Journal. It would be the San Ramon-based developer's first project in that city, which would play into the frenzy of housing development there in recent years, thanks to a 2008 "transit area specific plan," which opened up the possibility for redeveloping industrial land. [SVBJ]
