The Skinny on Plans for Two 18'-Wide Lots in Hayes Valley

Placeholder

Two undeveloped, 18-by-120-foot parcels in Hayes Valley could become home to two new five-story buildings at 350 and 300 Octavia.

Plans from Envelope A+D and Bay Area Urban Development would create two 11,761 SF buildings with 943 SF of ground-floor retail. Each would have four two-bedroom and eight studio condos.

The design won Envelope A+D a first place award in the San Francisco Prize Octavia Boulevard Housing Design Competition, held to generate imaginative building ideas for the land once occupied by the city's elevated Central Freeway, according to SocketSite. The plans include built-in furnishings, such as beds and storage space, to maximize space in the units. [SS]
