Episode 3? Lucas Museum Back To California

Placeholder

The Lucas Museum will not be in Chicago. After fighting a bruising campaign against a local community group calling itself the Friends of the Park, Lucas and his team declared he will move the $700M project back to California.

While the specific California city has not been disclosed, many local governments are attempting to woo the filmmaker, according to SocketSite. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee has offered Treasure Island as a possible location. Oakland Mayor Libby Schaff’s office has told Bisnow the city would be happy to host the museum. Los Angeles also is in contention.

George Lucas originally wanted to build his project in San Francisco’s Crissy Field. A unanimous vote against the proposal sent him to Chicago. The latest setback in the Windy City has the Lucas Museum once again looking for a home. [SS]
