Azusa Pacific University has renewed its lease for expanded space at Mission Center in San Diego.

Azusa Pacific University has renegotiated its lease expansion and extension for 48K SF at Mission Center, a 183,692 SF office building at 5333 and 5353 Mission Center Road. It will serve as the university's San Diego regional campus. The value of the deal was not disclosed.

JLL's Richard Gonor, Tony Russell and Brandt Riedman represented landlord Kearny Real Estate, while CBRE’s Greg Nassir and Scott Kincaid repped Azusa Pacific University. Over the past 12 months, the JLL team has completed leases with 10 tenants, for a total of more than 80K SF at Mission Center.

"Our recent leasing success is a testament to the area's demand for well-located quality properties with highly desirable amenities," Gonor said. "Mission Center is ideal for companies looking for fresh, new workspace in the vibrant Mission Valley submarket."

Kearny Real Estate acquired Mission Center in 2015 and completed at $3.5M renovation that created new building entry points with updated lobbies, new drought-tolerant landscaping and a free bike-sharing program. It also added new furniture to the atrium, including an outdoor ping pong table and updated elevator cabs. Improvements included a new gym with showers and lockers, exclusive outdoor patios attached to the ground-floor suites and a new signage program.

Mission Center is near the SR-163 and Interstate 8 freeways. The office park is a three-minute walk to the San Diego Mission Valley Center Light Rail Station, which connects to Amtrak and the Coaster commuter train.
