A Hollywood-themed casino in San Diego is still on track to deliver next year. That's the word from developer and operator Penn National Gaming's CEO, Timothy Wilmott, to investors this week. "Our $390M Hollywood Casino Jamul-San Diego development remains on schedule for a mid-2016 opening," Timothy told investors during a conference call. The three-story casino is slated to include more than 1,700 slot machines, 43 gaming tables and a Final Cut Steak & Seafood steakhouse, along with a noodle bar, sports bar, lounge, beer garden and a food court. The development also will include an 1,800-spot parking deck.

The project is being built on land controlled by the Jamul Tribe in Southwest SD County, on the Jamul Indian Village reservation, a six-acre site near El Cajon. In a Penn National filing with the SEC, the firm notes some risks to the project, including "building a complex project on a relatively small parcel."
