The Robots Are Coming! (To a Phoenix-Area Condo Project)

When we heard about the first robotic car valet in the western US, which will be in a Phoenix-area condo development called The Sterling Collection at Silverleaf in Scottsdale, we had to talk to developer Nathan Day, CEO of Cypress Development Group.

Nathan tells us that he and partner Tanner Luster were impressed by the latest technology in robotic parking systems, which so far is only in New York and Miami, and thought it would be a good fit at their upscale development. The robotic valet is a fully robotic parking garage system, using omni-directional, battery-powered robots and a robotics guidance system to take cars parked on self-supporting steel trays to and from storage spaces. Residents of the property can, at the touch of a button, call up their vehicle to arrive in a few minutes.

They might look like flat panels, but that's only part of the robotic system by Boomerang that moves cars around efficiently (see this video for a complete rundown). The Sterling Collection will be the first and only condo property in the North Scottsdale golf community of DC Ranch. Cypress redesigned some of the property, but Nathan says it’s still largely true to the vision of the original developer, DMB. When complete, the property will have 213 units priced from the low $1M, and various posh amenities.
