The Scottsdale Airport, which serves corporate aircraft and handles about 300 flights a day, is planning a $27M renovation to add two more hangars, a new aviation business center with larger restaurant and meeting space, and a veterans memorial. The move came on the heels of an update to the city's airport master plan, the Phoenix Business Journal reports.

The current airport terminal building and the adjacent aviation business center will be razed this summer, with the project slated to open by 2018. The two new 30K SF hangars will be able to accommodate aircraft up to a Gulfstream 650, Falcon 7x or Global Express, which are newer kinds of corporate aircraft that are larger than previously popular models. Gemini Air Group will lease and operate the facilities.
