Sushi, Anyone?

We asked for your fish tales and you answered. JKR Partners' Mike Izzo tells us he was waiting for the clock to strike noon for lunch when his buddy called, saying "The fish are biting, can you leave?" So Mike put himself out on the office calendar and waved goodbye to his boss, driving to a mile off the Jersey coast. They dropped anchor a few hundred yards from all the other folks trying to bring in their haul (it was like they were on the Deadliest Catch or something, Mike says). "My buddy and I pounded a couple of Four Lokos—before the recipe changed and they got weak—dropped our lines, and waited for the fish to start jumping the boat." Five minutes later, they were catching fish left and right.

We can't imagine that Mike is making many lunchtime striper catches these days, as there's plenty of work in his firm's pipeline. This month, the JKR-designed Southstar Lofts (above) is wrapping up. The Dranoff Properties development is rising to seven stories with 85 luxury apartments. Also nearing completion is the residential conversion of 1616 Walnut, which will have 206 luxury apartments. Will your fish tale nab you a Bisnow event ticket? Send sibley@bisnow.com your best true (or true but unverifiable) story and photo, and we'll publish the best!
