UK-Based Co-Working And Cohabiting Company Crossing The Pond To Philly

Co-working is a growing trend in the use of office space all around the country, including Philadelphia, and it only figures to continue with the coming introduction of Startup Home to the market.

Startup Home is a UK-based company that invites entrepreneurs to live and work in the same space for six-month intervals. Philadelphia will be the first market of its planned expansion in the US, with three to five locations in the city, the first of which is to come in "the inner part of North Philadelphia," says Startup Home's US executive director, Simone Tarantino.

The first Startup Home, to be a model for future locations, will be around 20k SF, to contain 20 bedrooms with common living areas, "with a big portion of the space dedicated to co-working and events/lecture areas," Simone tells Bisnow.

The spaces are meant to serve as entrepreneurial incubators to foster collaborations and ideas in both business and community engagement. One of the planned Philly locations is set to be solely for female entrepreneurs, and another to be focused on Augmented Reality products.
