REDEVELOPING A MEDIA EMPIRE
DAVID binswanger philadelphia media network 801 market street lease 400 north broad st
We spoke with Binswanger's David Binswanger fresh from his huge victory of not just one, but two, major deals: Brokering Philadelphia Media Network's 12-year, 125k SF lease at the former department store space at 801 Market St and selling the network's former 526k SF building at 400 North Broad St. The move takes Philly's biggest media outlet (do we need to mention the Inquirer and Philly.com?) and puts it in an area of downtown Philly that has had fits and starts of redevelopment in the past. Now could be the catalyst that really sees it come to fruition. “Taking a major media company who have an iconic name… I think can help the redevelopment or repositioning of The Gallery,” David says. “You're kind of all of the sudden getting a link between West Market Street… and historic areas of Philadelphia.”
