A major West Coast name in commercial real estate is moving into Texas, starting with a new Dallas-Fort Worth office.
Seattle-based Kidder Mathews announced its DFW office, adding six brokers, including the trio that founded Edge Capital Markets and the former CEO of a brokerage dedicated exclusively to the healthcare industry. Mart Martindale, Brandon Beeson, Wilson Stafford, John David Cobb and Claire Schmeltekopf will form Kidder Mathews’ new DFW investment sales team, while Barrett Jones joins the firm as a healthcare tenant advisory specialist.

The DFW office marks Kidder Mathews’ first foray into Texas and gives the firm 20 offices in six states.
“Dallas has long been one of the country’s most dynamic commercial real estate markets, and we have been deliberate about finding the right people before planting our flag,” Kidder Mathews CEO Bill Frame said in a statement. “This group brings an exceptional track record, deep roots in Texas, and the entrepreneurial mindset that defines Kidder Mathews.”
Frame said the new DFW team’s leadership gives Kidder Mathews a strong foundation to build a full-service presence in the market.
Martindale, Beeson and Stafford founded Edge Capital Markets and, with Cobb and Schmeltekopf, have executed more than $3.5B in transactions and provided valuations for over $20B in assets.
The team has expertise in capital markets, investment sales and distressed assets across a diverse range of property types, including retail, office, multifamily, medical office and industrial. Their clients include BH Properties, KeyBank, Trigild and EPR Properties Trust.
Jones was CEO of Jones Healthcare Real Estate and has spent his career advising healthcare organizations and investors on transactions across property types. He has represented clients such as Chewy, Redesign Health and Vivo Infusion.
“Kidder Mathews brings an approach to Texas that strongly aligns with how we have always operated,” Martindale said in a statement. “The firm’s independent culture gives brokers the freedom to put clients first, act decisively, and pursue the best solutions without unnecessary layers of bureaucracy.”
Martindale will serve as senior vice president, managing director and a shareholder for the firm. He has more than 25 years of experience in CRE investment sales and capital markets.
Beeson and Stafford each join Kidder Mathews as senior vice presidents and shareholders. Beeson has more than 25 years of experience in retail investment sales and capital markets, while Stafford has more than 20 years of experience in CRE investment sales and capital markets.
Cobb will serve as associate vice president, specializing in office and medical office investment sales. Schmeltekopf joins the firm as senior associate and will focus on the acquisition, disposition and valuation of multifamily, office and retail properties.
Kidder Mathews also plans to expand the DFW office beyond traditional brokerage services by adding asset services and valuation advisory teams.
“You can expect to see a lot more of Kidder Mathews in Texas,” Frame said. “We are committed to growing thoughtfully, expanding our capabilities, and establishing a lasting presence across the state.”
