Irvine Co’s Woodbridge Village Center Is Getting A $30M Makeover

Irvine Co’s Woodbridge Village Center Is Getting A $30M Makeover

Woodbridge Village Center, on a 17-acre site at 4730 Barranca Pkwy in Irvine, is getting a $30M makeover. The Irvine Co, which owns the 155k SF community shopping center built in 1979, will begin work in August and complete renovations in the second half of 2017.

Plans call for demolishing a two-story building at the center of the project, reducing the overall retail space by 15k SF. The inner courtyard, home to the beloved frog statues, Woody and Bridget, will be expanded to create an outdoor dining area and gathering place. The center has lost a number of tenants over the last few years, so the Irvine Co is reconsidering the tenant mix. Tenants popular with locals will stay, including Champagne Bakery, Barnes & Noble, a candy store named Sticky Fingers, the Woodbridge 5 cinema and Ruby's Diner.

Woodbridge Village Center was one of the first shopping centers to open in Irvine Ranch’s Village of Woodbridge, which has about 9,600 homes and 30,000 residents.
