SCG America Group, a subsidiary of Shanghai Construction Group, is developing the 5-acre project that will include a hotel, retail stores and restaurants along Harbor Boulevard. The Friedmutter Group and Archilier Architecture will help design the project.

The boutique hotel is the first Kimpton hotel in the Garden Grove and Anaheim Resort District. The hotel is about a five-minute drive from the Anaheim Convention Center, Disneyland Resort, Angels Stadium and the Honda Center.

“This is an exciting time for Kimpton as we strengthen our presence in Southern California,” Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants CEO Mike DeFrino said. “With this property, we will be able to introduce our unique approach to hospitality and extraordinary restaurant and bar experience to a growing audience.”

Kimpton officials said the hotel will feature 10K SF of meeting space, two restaurants, a rooftop pool and a lounge. The rooftop and some top-floor suites will allow guests to see Disneyland’s nightly fireworks show, Kimpton Global Senior Vice President of Design Ave Bradley said.

The new hotel comes amidst a commercial real estate boom in the Anaheim Resort District.

Anaheim officials said at least nine hotels are under construction or are planned in the city.

In its latest report, Visit Anaheim, the city's tourism bureau, reported 24.2 million people visited the city last year. It was the fifth year in a row the number of visitors to the city has increased.
