Crystal Cathedral Founder Passes Away

Placeholder

Rev Robert Schuller, who founded the 35-acre Crystal Cathedral campus, died last week at 88. The property, which was sold in 2012 as part of a bankruptcy auction, is now being redeveloped by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, which paid more than $53M for it. The diocese plans the new Christ Cathedral to open as its new seat in 2017, reports the Orange County Business Journal. Broadcasts of the Hour of Power from the glass-and-steel, 2,800-seat structure, completed in 1981, used to reach as many as 20 million viewers. [OCBJ]
