Last night we also went to a fun cocktail reception at a unique, under- construction space overlooking the city at Constitution Square. The rapidly growing NoMa neighborhood showcased its rising culinary and pastry chefs who are nominated for this year’s RAMMY awards. We snapped the hosts, RAMW prez Kathy Hollinger flanked by NoMa BID’s Galin Brooks and Rachel Davis.
The chefs participated in a friendly taste-off, and guests voted for their favorite bites, such as MBK and Table chef Jason Gehring’s cucumber lemongrass rhubarb and Water & Wall chef Tim Ma’s rabbit ragu. Here, Roll Call’s Brigid Hogan, David Burr, CHNNA’s Brian Chamowitz, and NPR’s Anne Gordon.
The pastry chefs had some tasty creations, like 2941 chef Caitlin Dysart’s goat cheese sorbet with sautéed strawberries, and Fiola chef Tom Wellings’ foie gras macaroon. Here, Todd Gray’s Watershed’s Anne Choe, Providence Hospital’s Sosena Desta, and Tuesday’s Child’s Abenaa Addei.
Toki Underground chef Erik Bruner-Yang won the chef challenge by creating Southeast Asian ceviche and char siu baos (barbecue pork-filled buns). Here, WC Smith’s Kaitlyn Luper and Albina Kuznetsova with The Advisory Board’s Abhijit Khanna.
