We went to the Masquerade Kidney Ball on Saturday at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. That means we got to dance to Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.

This year marked the 34th anniversary of the ball, one of the largest events of the National Kidney Foundation nationwide, attracting over 800 guests and raising over $800,000.

Over 26 million Americans--one in nine adults--have kidney disease, and most don’t know it. In the DC area alone 700,000 people are affected, 7,000 are on dialysis, and 1,700 are waiting for a life-saving transplant.
