Last night we stopped by LongView Gallery for DC SCORES’ annual Score Awards, a reception, celebration, and fundraiser honoring its coaches and volunteers.
We snapped three Board members, Cove Strategies’ Stephen Replogle, Zuckerman Spaeder’s Carl Kravitz, and UPS’s Dontai Smalls, surrounding Liz Weems.
DC SCORES builds teams through after-school programs for 1,500 low-income DC youth at 47 schools by instilling self-expression, physical fitness, and a sense of community. Two more Board members, EVOKE owner Jodi Moraru (who helped plan the event) and Arjuna Solutions’ Steve Goodman, bookend Michelle Goodman.
Guests enjoyed drinks and Mediterranean food: mini gyros, spinach pie, and hummus. We loved the lemon cake pops that were passed around. Here, National Geographic’s Hanna Toler, Jennifer Bond, and Ashley Landgraf.
DC SCORES’ student poet Xavier Crowell, a fifth grader at Arts and Technology Academy, was one of two selected to read his poetry for the audience. He’s with his proud parents Marjorie and Munday Crowell; he recently performed in NY at a National Poetry SLAM, and his school got the Teamwork Award.
