We went to the U.S. Navy Memorial for the premiere of American Sniper, the real-life story of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, played by Bradley Cooper.
We snapped the Georgetown grad and two-time Oscar nominee, who spoke candidly on the importance of this role to him for its portrayal of what our men and women of the armed forces, and their families, go through. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the film is based on Chris, who, with 160 confirmed kills, was the most lethal marksman in US history and given the nickname Legend.
Chris’ wife Taya told us he was very humble and chose to continue to deploy for four tours because he couldn’t stand by when he could be saving lives. He was tragically killed in 2012 in the US by a vet he was trying to help. American Sniper opens nationwide tomorrow.
Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill paid a surprise visit to view the film and honor Chris Kyle, Bradley Cooper, and military and government officials who were there.
