George Washington University has issued an RFP for brokers interested in repping the university in the possible sale of the Hall on Virginia Avenue at 2601 Virginia Ave NW.
The building was constructed in 1965 and most recently served as a graduate student residence hall prior to closing for renovations. The building, also known as HOVA, has some interesting history: room 723 was used by the Watergate burglars on June 17, 1972, as a “lookout” for the attempted break-in and wiretapping of the DNC offices, according to GW Today.
“Since HOVA closed for renovation, we have received interest from potential buyers and university leadership believed it was prudent to fully consider all available options,” said senior associate vice president for operations Alicia Knight. GWU expects to select a broker by the end of the year and hopes to list the property in early 2016, with the price still TBD. [GWT]
