Boat Owners at Buzzard Point Unite to Keep Marina Open

Boat owners that use Buzzard Point Marina have decided to form an owner's association in hopes of keeping the marina open. The National Park Service has decided to close the marina at the end of the year due to the prohibitive costs of renovating and modernizing it. The association was launched earlier this week and is still in its early stages. Fred Maschak, who has used the marina for 15 years, spearheaded the campaign and plans to spend the weekend recruiting other boat owners. Fifty-eight residents keep their boats at the marina and have been told they need to vacate by Dec. 31. [HILLNOW]
