WeWork Expands DC Presence with New Location

WeWork plans to open a new location in Douglas Development’s Manhattan Laundry development near DC's bustling U Street corridor. The company has signed a lease for about 51K SF of office space at 1336 Florida Ave NW, which is a combination of three adjacent properties with roughly 81K SF of office space. This will be the fourth lease in DC for the NY-based workspace provider that provides an alternative to traditional office space and its third with Douglas Development. According to the Washington Business Journal, Douglas had hoped the site would be attractive to the tech crowd and feels that the signing of WeWork reinforces that notion. WeWork’s other leases with Douglas are at the Wonder Bread Factory in Shaw and at 718 7th St NW in Chinatown. The company also has space at 1875 Connecticut Circle NW in Dupont Circle from Vornado Realty Trust. [WBJ]
