The Federal Election Commission will soon be headed to NoMa after signing a lease to occupy the top four floors of Trammell Crow's Sentinel Square II.
The 100k SF lease is Trammell Crow's first coup for the 280k SF building at 1050 First St NW, which delivered in 2013. The 1.3M SF, multi-phase development is a JV with Cottonwood Partners and a private subsidiary advised by Crow Holdings Capital. The FEC plans to move into the building in November 2017. The agency currently leases 137k SF at 999 E St NW, which is set to expire next September.
“After having survived a historically anomalous low level of federal leasing in recent years, we are thrilled to have worked with GSA, JLL and FEC to provide a modern and efficient workspace,” Trammell Crow managing director Tom Finan said in a release, “all while saving the federal government and American taxpayer significant dollars over the life of the lease.”
Trammell Crow is also close to bringing the FCC to the Sentinel Square development, pending a lawsuit. NoMa appears to be the hot new neighborhood for federal agencies, last year bringing in the Justice Department to occupy 839k SF at StonebridgeCarras' Constitution Square.
