If you have spent time in downtown Washington, D.C., chances are you’ve stumbled upon the neighborhood known as East End.
Just north of the National Mall, the area is bound by New York Avenue, Pennsylvania Avenue, Indiana Avenue and Massachusetts Avenue. It is home to the submarkets of Chinatown, Penn Quarter and Mount Vernon Triangle.
East End has transformed over the last two decades into a hub for retail, hospitality, and public and private sector offices. It is also home to Capital One Arena, the home of the NBA's Washington Wizards and the NHL's reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals, as well as the region's premier concert venue. The neighborhood is also home to two of the Metro system's three major hubs: the Gallery Place-Chinatown and Metro Center stops, which combined provide access to every Metro line.
While East End has long been an attractive destination, it is quickly becoming a home base for many of the city’s residents. Several Class-A multifamily assets, like Avalon and Meridian, are popping up in the area, offering residents luxury living at the center of the action.
It is a prime example of a larger urban migration trend among millennials. This pattern is especially apparent in Washington, D.C., a city well-known for its growing population of young professionals. East End provides residents an entryway into the city’s distinct culture, with music, theater and museums all within reach.
