DC United is inching closer to finalizing the design for its new Buzzard Point stadium and the latest renderings have been unveiled.

The club has submitted revised renderings as part of the zoning commission process for its future home. The Buzzard Point site has been a subject of contention between the District and site owner Akridge, with a significant gap between the two parties on the value of the land, the Washington Post reports. Back in October, the city seized control of the two-acre site through eminent domain.

DC United owner Jason Levien expects the land to be turned over to the club this summer. Construction would begin from that point, with the 18,000 to 23,000-seat venue scheduled to open in 2018. Architecture firm Populous has been tasked with design for the new digs. The firm specializes in such projects and designed Nationals Park and Camden Yards. [WaPo]
