After entering the D.C. market last year, short-term housing company Blueground is continuing to expand.

Blueground announced Wednesday it entered into a partnership with Aria Development Group to operate 18 units at The Remington apartment building in Foggy Bottom.

Aria acquired the building at 601 24th St. NW in 2013 and recently completed renovations on the property. Its units range from 600 SF to 700 SF and it features an on-site fitness center and concierge service. The building sits about two blocks from the Foggy Bottom Metro station.

Blueground offers fully furnished units with leases as short as 30 days, targeting business travelers and new residents looking for a short-term housing option. It is one of several short-term housing companies expanding in D.C., which they see as a prime market given the city's growth and transient nature.

The deal brings Blueground's portfolio in D.C. to over 100 units, including the Aria-owned The Bond apartments in the West End. The Greek company operates over 2,500 units across nine cities, six of them in the U.S., and it aims to grow that portfolio to 50,000 units in 50 cities by 2023.

"The caliber and quality of Aria's distinguished developments align well with Blueground's strategy of leasing best-in-class, beautifully furnished and tech-powered apartments within sought-after neighborhoods that provide renters with more flexible, turnkey living solutions," Blueground D.C. General Manager Eli Nofzinger said in a release.
