Rockville Developer Plans 5-Building Resi Project At Grosvenor Metro

The Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station in Bethesda could soon have an adjacent five-building residential development.

That is the plan Rockville-based Streetscape Partners principal Ron Kaplan introduced at a Montgomery County Planning Department meeting Thursday night, Bethesda Magazine reports.

The developer's five-building residential plan also includes ground-floor space for music students of the nearby Music Center at Strathmore, as well as public parks and tree-lined walkways.

WMATA's 2013 RFP for the site limited residential construction to 550 units. It then selected Streetscape to develop the site in 2014, although the developer has yet to announce the total number of units it plans to build. The Metro station already has 860 units to the south of its parking lot, including the 15-story Meridian at Grosvenor Station.

Streetscape is also working on a 140-unit redevelopment of the Meridian International Center on U Street, as a JV with Westbrook Partners. [BETH]
