DC is one of the most expensive cities for renting an apartment, and being located near a Metro stop will typically cost residents a premium.
A new, interactive map released by RentHop shows which Metro stations have the highest nearby rents and which are growing the fastest. The map uses RentHop's apartment rental data, with at least 30 unique points within one-eighth of a mile from each Metro station.
The most expensive Metro stations to live near are all downtown: Metro Center, Federal Triangle, Smithsonian, Gallery Place and Archives have median one-bedroom rents above $2,500.
The map also shows which Metro station areas had the biggest year-over-year changes in rent price. The fastest-growing rents were around Franconia-Springfield, Foggy Bottom-GWU, Congress Heights, McPherson Square, Cleveland Park and Georgia Ave-Petworth.
Rents fell the most in supply-heavy areas such as Navy Yard-Ballpark, Fort Totten, Union Station and NoMa-Gallaudet, with each neighborhood's median one-bedroom price dropping more than 7%.
