Multifamily developer Mill Creek Residential announced plans to convert the newly acquired Italian Embassy at 2700 16th St NW into luxury apartments. Plans involve renovating the existing building, which will house a limited number of apartments, and constructing a nine-story high-rise with two levels of underground parking. The resulting community will have one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments with top of the line high-tech and high-end features, and European-style amenities. These amenities include a clubhouse, business center, rooftop terrace, fitness center and landscaped outdoor terraces. The historic original building, built in 1925, will be preserved to meet HPRB standards. Construction is expected to begin in 2016.
