Montgomery County will soon consider a proposal for a new high-rise tower in Downtown Bethesda.

Greystar is pressing forward with plans for a multifamily project at 7340 Wisconsin Ave., the site of a vacant gas station neighboring the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, UrbanTurf first reported.

The 310-unit building would also be one block away from the Bethesda Metro station. The SK+I Architecture-designed high-rise would have 15% of its units reserved as moderately priced dwelling units, and it is planned to include 157 parking spaces.

The project is still going through the approval process. A spokesperson for SK+I told Bisnow the team planned to submit site plans to the county on Wednesday and expected them to be considered at a Bethesda Downtown Design Advisory Panel meeting on July 27.

This isn't the first attempt to dramatically reinvent the site. Previously, South Bay Partners proposed a 319K SF project at the same location, with its plans calling for senior housing and retail, UrbanTurf reported.

If Greystar's project moves forward, it will neighbor other recent residential high-rises to sprout up in the area. At 7697 Old Georgetown Road, Washington Property Co. is building a 198-unit, 22-story multifamily tower. That project secured a $69M construction loan in October from Bank of America.
