CIM Group Buys 1,180-Unit Alexandria Apartment Community

A 14-building apartment community just south of Alexandria's Landmark Mall has just traded hands.

Los Angeles-based CIM Group acquired the 1,180-unit EOS Twenty-One apartment community at 140 South Van Dorn St. It did not disclose the sale price.

The property was last sold in 2012 to New York-based Area Property Partners, which acquired it for an undisclosed price.

The community sits on a 30-acre site just south of the Interstate 395 off-ramp to the Landmark Mall. The property is roughly a mile north of the Van Dorn Metro station and offers a shuttle for Metro commuters.

CIM, which has an office in Bethesda, also owns the nearby Park Place at Van Dorn, a 285-unit apartment community. It also owns several properties in the District — including three office buildings in NoMa that are a part of one of D.C.'s Amazon HQ2 bids — in Rosslyn and in Montgomery County.
