Washington Property Co. broke ground Tuesday on its second Solaire-branded apartment building in Silver Spring, and its fourth in Montgomery County.

The developer's newest project will be a 20-story building at 8250 Georgia Ave. It will include 338 rental units and 15K SF of ground-floor retail with outdoor restaurant seating, plus three levels of below-grade parking. WCP is bringing on Bethesda-based Streetsense to lease out the retail.

WPC bought the site in 2013 from Bethel World Outreach Ministries International for $8.2M, property records show. It plans to complete construction on the building in spring 2019.

The building's mix of studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments will average 760 SF per unit. Its amenities will include a rooftop pool, a café with free WiFi, a courtyard with grilling areas, a fitness center and a clubroom that can be rented out for private events.

Just two blocks away, WPC's first Solaire-branded building next to the Silver Spring Metro delivered in 2012. The second delivered in 2014 in Wheaton and the third opened last year in Bethesda.
