Miller & Smith Proposes 1,100 Units for Ashburn Town Center

Loudoun County's Board of Supervisors hesitance to approve new residential units is about to be put to a serious test. Miller & Smith, developer of the mammoth One Loudoun mixed-use development at the intersection of Route 7 and Loudoun County Parkway, is requesting to build 1,171 multifamily units in the heart of the new town center, 725 more than the approved 2007 plans, according to the Washington Business Journal. The 338-acre development already has some enticing retail, like the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, Bar Louie, Spinfire Pizza and Zoe's Kitchen, but Miller & Smith says more residents are needed for "critical support" of the existing businesses, and to spur the planned 3.5M SF of office space. The Loudoun Board has taken rigid stances against additional residential development in the past, so approval for so many more units is far from assured.
