After quickly leasing up 400 units in the first phase of its Washington Gateway project in NoMa, MRP Realty is looking to add more multifamily to the project's next phase.
MRP returned to the Zoning Commission hoping to change the second phase of its project from two office towers to a 372-unit apartment building and an office tower, the Washington Business Journal reports.
The proposed zoning changes would allow the south office tower to be flipped to residential if MRP chooses. The lobby of that building is a planned, $1.2M two-story public bicycle lobby that links the Metropolitan Branch Trail with the Washington Gateway Plaza.
To sweeten its rezoning proposal, MRP is offering to invest $300k to pave, landscape and light a portion of the trail and to extend sidewalks along Florida and New York avenues. [WBJ]
