The Meridian Group, which is embarking on a $142M renovation of 700 K St NW (rendered above), just landed a major ground-floor retail tenant for the property.
Equinox, a luxury fitness club, will occupy 34k SF as part of the retail corridor branded Anthem Row.
This will be Equinox's fourth DC-area location. It has one at 1170 22nd St NW, one in Bethesda and one in Tysons.
Meridian, which the help of Streetsense, is looking to revitalize the 8th Street pedestrian plaza. Meridian's Tom Boylan, who told Bisnow last month that the firm was in talks with a fitness club, also said they have received interest from sit-down restaurants and fast-casual eateries.
"That 8th Street revitalization might be the most important part," Tom told us in November. "We're creating a destination, a vibrant, walkable, storefront street with plenty of retail that's approachable. It will be a place to have lunch, grab dinner or have happy hour."
Across the street at Carnegie Library, Apple has reached an agreement to open a 63k SF flagship store.
