McLean Properties has again dropped plans for a mixed-use development in downtown McLean.
McLean leaders announced Monday the developer had withdrawn its application for the development, InsideNoVa.com reports. The project was to be built on land surrounded by Ingleside Avenue, Old Dominion Drive and Chain Bridge and Beverly roads. The developer had proposed constructing a new main thoroughfare through the heart of the complex.
Area residents voiced concerns in February about building height and how close some of the proposed buildings were to the street. McLean Properties responded in May with a two-level height reduction to six stories, a wider road setback and an increase of public space.
The developer previously dropped plans for the project in 2008 at the height of the financial collapse. Local leaders are confused over why McLean Properties abandoned the project a second time.
“I’m not exactly sure what happened,” Supervisor John Foust (D-Dranesville) said to InsideNoVa.
