Mixed-Use Development in Arlington Up For Approval

Penrose Group has submitted a proposal for a six-story, mixed-use building across from Ballston Common Mall and just a few blocks from the Ballston Metro Station.

The new development would be at 670 N Glebe Rd. Plans call for 173 apartments, two separate ground-floor retail spaces and 177 underground parking spaces. Amenities for the residential tenants will include bike storage and a gym and amenity room on the ground floor. The development is across North Carlin Springs Road from Crimson Partners and Washington REIT's, 167-unit JV, the Maxwell, and adjacent to Saul Centers' proposed 435-unit, grocery-anchored apartment project.

At least seven of the 173 apartments in Penrose's building would be committed affordable units. The proposal heads to the Arlington County Board for a vote this Saturday[ARL]
