A Site Plan For The Strathmore Square Development

The seven-building development planned at the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station is beginning to come into focus.

Fivesquares Development submitted a sketch plan to the Montgomery County Planning Board that calls for over 2M SF of development, Bethesda Magazine reports.

The Strathmore Square development would include 1.7M SF of residential space, an estimated 2,008 units, with 15% of those set aside as affordable housing. It would also include 318K SF of nonresidential development, most of it ground-floor retail space.

Two of the buildings would reach 300 feet in height, with the other five between 100 and 220 feet. The majority of the development would be built around a 1.2-acre park, which could host events and pop-up markets and art installations.

The Montgomery County Council in December approved the Grosvenor-Strathmore Minor Master Plan amendment, a planning framework that set the allowable density for the site. That came after WMATA in February authorized Fivesquares to build the project on the parking lots it owns around the Metro stations. The planning department will now review the sketch plan and make a recommendation before the planning board votes on the project.
