The US Postal Service last week sold its 79k SF building at 2135 Fifth St NE in Eckington.
The building—USPS's sole equipment shop for five decades—sold for $12.25M to Phoenix-based Amerco Real Estate Co, the Washington Business Journal Reports.
Amerco specializes in self-storage and is the parent company of U-Haul, Republic Western Insurance Co and Oxford Life Insurance Co.
It has owned the building next to the USPS facility, 2215 Fifth St, since 2005. Officials told the WBJ that Amerco will likely use the former USPS building for self-storage, surrounded by U-Haul truck parking. [WBJ]
