Clark Enterprises had strongly opposed Brookfield's plan to build a 290-foot tower above the Bethesda Metro station, but it seems to have changed its tune.
Clark VP Robert Eisenberg said at a Montgomery County Council hearing last night his company now supports Brookfield's plan, Bethesda Magazine reports.
Clark owns the neighboring 16-story Clark building, one of the most prominent buildings in Bethesda. It had previously argued the site would be better as public greenspace and had tried to convince the County Council to block the plan. Brookfield's plan does include inward-facing park, rendered above.
This comes as Marriott searches for a Downtown Bethesda site for its new HQ. Brookfield's Metro development is one of a handful of potential sites, but remains a long shot because it will likely lack the necessary density for the 700k SF HQ. [BETH]
