On Monday, ground was broken on the National Science Foundation's new HQ in Alexandria. Alexandria Economic Development Partnership chief Val Hawkins (second from right) tells us the agency's move from Ballston to Alexandria's Hoffman Town Center project could serve as an archetype for how GSA carries out future developments. The NSF's new digs will be right near the US Patent & Trademark Office, and Val says "proximity to related agencies could be a new factor in the location decision process." (Proximity to similar types certainly influenced what desk we chose in junior high.)
