MOBs are Getting Efficient, Too

The trends transforming office space are spreading to the medical side, too. (You could say it's contagious.) We visited Lerner's just-delivered Fallsgrove Plaza medical office building in Rockville and snapped Arthritis & Rheumatism Associates' Margaret Dieckhoner and Gittleson Zuppas' David Gittelson (Margaret's firm has leased space there; David brokered the deal). The building's mod lobby includes the colorful Paul Housberg glass installation behind them. The art is part of a City of Rockville regulation that all new buildings have at least one piece of public art, Lerner's Bonnie Pulise tells us.

Like most new buildings you'd find in downtown DC, this MOB is also heavy on glass, natural light, and column-free spacing; Lerner's going for LEED Gold, too, Bonnie says. Besides A&R Associates, Lerner also recently signed Dr. Sherry Maragh who will open her first dermatological practice in Maryland, and responding to demand for tenants wanting to be near Shady Grove Hospital, the firm will also move forward with two more MOBs in Fallsgrove in the coming years.
