This week we've been covering the Mortgage Bankers' annual conference in San Diego, where we talked with Allianz Real Estate of America CEO James Stolpestad. His NY-based firm has $2 trillion of assets under management, and a total CRE portfolio of more than $30B and is mainly focused on CRE investments and loans in gateway cities like DC, NY, Chicago, LA, and the large Texas markets. A big debt player since taking over as CEO three years ago, he's begun to push the firm into equity with funds and in JVs.
